Song Review
“A Thousand Years” is taken from American singer Christina Perri’s album “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack”. It was released on 18 October, 2011 by Chop Shop Records and Atlantic Records as the second single from her album, and was written by David Hodges and Christina Perri.
“A Thousand Years” received mixed review from music critics. Bill Lamb wrote that “At first, it seems a little bit sappy and a little twee, but, carry on and as the Waltz effort is starting to influence progressively more the track steps into a bridge which is strikingly lovely. It after that melts back into a fragile place before capturing along into a pretty ending. She utilizes her words to an excellent result signaling pretty much like we were resting with a buddy who decides to talk to us in a song rather than daily talk patterns. In place of moving her words to power via a tremendous chorus, she allows the backing song accomplish the speaking.”
“A Thousand Years” peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Pop Songs Chart, at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart, at number 11 on the RIANZ Singles Chart, at number 26 on the Scottish Singles Chart and at number 70 on the Canadian Hot 100 Chart.
