“Viva La Vida” is taken from British rock band Coldplay’s fourth studio album “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends”. It was released on 25 May, 2008 by Capitol Records and Parlophone Records as the second single from their album. The first music video was released on August 1, 2008 and was directed by Hype Williams. Second music video was directed by Anton Corbijn.
“Viva La Vida” was certified Platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ), was certified 3x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of American (RIAA). “Viva la Vida” won the Grammy Awards in 2009 in the category of “Best Pop Performance by a Duo or a Group” and “Songs of the Year”. It was also nominated in the category of “Record of the Year”.
“Viva la Vida” peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Pop Songs Chart, at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, at number 7 on the Swedish Singles Chart, at number 1 on the Polish Singles Chart, at number 16 on the RIANZ Singles Chart, at number 90 on the Japan Hot 100, at number 1 on the Dutch Top 40, at number 7 on the French SNEP Singles Chart, at number 3 on the European Hot 100 Singles and at number 4 on the Canadian Hot 100 Chart.
